An officially licensed Grateful Dead x TGR project.
Legendary skier and artist, Chris Benchetler grew up in the shadows of California’s eastern Sierra Nevada range. The mountains were his canvases, where he had freedom to roam and develop his artistry. Skiing and art making evolved organically in concert with the natural world. “Mother Nature was and continues to be my best teacher. From the beginning I considered myself an artist on skis. Skiing was a way for me to express myself and clear my head,” he said.
After Chris’ wife Kimmy Fasani battled breast cancer, and Chris and family experienced the challenges that brings to a family, they formed The Benchetler Fasani Foundation. It was launched with a mission to provide meaningful connections to the outdoors and the healing properties found in nature to those who have suffered loss or hardship.
A portion of the proceeds from each item sold will be donated to The Benchetler Fasani Foundation.
Chris' connection to the Grateful Dead parallels his connection to nature and both come together for a fresh take on the "Night Waves" bolt design with the red bolt on the left chest with a larger version on the rear, but filled with Chris' signature style line work and design.
Each shirt is hand dyed in black crinkle and printed at the legendary Grateful Dead artist Peter Forsythe’s studio in Upstate New York. No two shirts are the same; and much like everything Chris Benchetler touches, these shirts are works of art!
